In a significant development for South African tech company OfferZen, a triumphant $4.34 million (R82 million) funding round has been successfully closed, accompanied by the announcement of the departure of CEO Philip Joubert, who has served in the role for the past three years. The funding round garnered support from prominent entities such as AI Capital, with notable partners including Roger Grobler, Nic Kohler, Willem Roos, and Michael Jordaan. Additionally, Invenfin, represented by partners Peter van der Zed and Theo van den Berg, played a pivotal role in contributing to the substantial funding.

As part of a strategic transition, Matt Beck, the former Vice President of Marketing, has been appointed to take over the reins from Joubert. The decision to appoint Beck was grounded in his substantial contributions to advancing the company’s scalability, a demonstrated strong affinity for the OfferZen brand and an embodiment of the company’s core values. In expressing his confidence in Beck, Joubert stated, “I’m pleased to pass the baton to him.”

Founded in 2015 by brothers Philip and Malan Joubert, OfferZen has evolved into a curated marketplace connecting over 100,000 developers with over 2,000 businesses across South Africa. The platform offers upfront information about skills, roles, and salaries, streamlining the hiring process for developers and businesses. Developers utilizing OfferZen can create free profiles, peruse job postings, and benefit from dedicated support throughout the interview and offer stages, courtesy of their talent advisor. Recognizing tech companies’ financial challenges, OfferZen introduced a fixed-fee unlimited hiring subscription, complementing its traditional per-hire fee structure.

OfferZen has also hinted at upcoming substantial platform updates and committed to incorporating new AI-driven features in the coming months. These enhancements aim to elevate further the efficiency and effectiveness of candidate and company connections within the OfferZen ecosystem, reinforcing the company’s commitment to impactful innovation and continuous improvement.
